We are an “Open and Affirming Church”, terminology within the United Church of Christ that means we welcome all LGBTQ people to every aspect of our church’s life. The United Church of Christ was the first mainline protestant denomination to ordain an openly gay pastor in 1972, the Rev. William R. Johnson. In the following three decades the national UCC body called “General Synod” has urged equal rights for homosexuals and called on all affiliated congregations to welcome gay, lesbian and bisexual members and staff.
We are a congregation that includes every person, embracing differences of race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender, marital status, mental and physical ability, age, and socio-economic background. We welcome everyone to share in all areas of our church.
